there's a shape in the mirror and it's stalking me a touch from its lips and i'll disappear completely you have to pull yourself away before it's too late nothing left to lose but tenderness i can see who i am i can see who i am who's this man? his cold dark eyes tell me a story a flick from his wrist and he'd break my neck you have to pull yourself away before it's too late nothing left to lose but tenderness i can see who i am i can see who i am who's this man? i try to be strong can't wait to say goodbye change is slow to come happiness is freedom i can see who i am i can see who i am who's this man?

Little Wings 04:01
i woke up, hands around my throat thorns for nails, your fingers are rope it's not for you to decide you think you know what's best little wings can't lift you up you're gonna fall like all the rest you watched me slowly fall asleep your hands are roots clutching me it's not for you to decide you think you know what's best little wings can't lift you up you're gonna fall like all the rest Fall like the rest Stillness is all that's left

She Knows 03:37
she's running home to tell her mother she's broken you took her heart and and all that was spoken those Words are not memories, her heart beats aren't seconds your laughter will haunt her and she'll never love again when you say that i'm broken, and you want to fix me i know it's no use. i know its not right. she knows she knows you lie she's filling her cup full of tears from her eyes no gentle goodbyes could ever suffice your words are not relevant, your smile is not empathy a single truth is worth more than your lies when you say that i'm broken, and you want to fix me i know it's no use. i know its not right. she knows she knows you lie you're the one who needs to realize she knows she knows you lie you're the one who needs to justify she knows she knows when you say that you love her you want to recover her don't waste your time. she can't hear you anymore she knows she knows you lie

falling, i can't see the ground darkness surrounding everything the thrill of flight is an illusion cause birds like me have no wings i can't lift myself, my weight just pulls me down each time i try to flap my wings another feather falls to the ground searching, for hands to hold me tight but i'm lost in a dream and i can't wake up up in the sky a song is screaming and i'm running right out of luck i can't lift myself, my weight just pulls me down each time i try to flap my wings another feather falls to the ground pick me won't you pick me up then dash my head on the rocks below pick me up won't you pick me up and send my useless spirit home

true wealth lies in the ability to hypnotize all the people in your life when we believe the words you breathe we find new colours in the sky all of your money in my hands you aren't in the future plans bleeding your body dry each speck of hope is just a lie true love lies in the ability to fantasize that everything is fine when you believe the lies you feed where do you end and I begin? all of your money in my hands you aren't in the future plans bleeding your body dry each speck of hope is just a lie pretending is all we have

about

From the beginning, Eleanore has been a band which harnesses the progressive-rock musicianship of its three members in strict service of coy pop songs. “Eleanore” flirts with elements of contrasting nature: boy and girl; simple and complex; dissonance and consonance. Inspired by her recent gender transition, singer/guitarist Astrid Lyre set out to create an album of overtly heartfelt and honest songs without coming across as saccharine. While “Eleanore” often explores darker themes such as depression and longing for lost love, the overall impression at the end of the album is optimistic. The cover artwork, painted by local Nanaimo graphic designer Kristen Dullum, ties together the overall theme of contrast: an owl and rabbit wrestle, evoking the philosophy of yin and yang.

A nod to the classic power trio, “Eleanore” is a concise, clear and deliberate album that benefits from the raw and sometimes minimalistic format. In a sense, the band captures the feel of a polished and groomed live recording. The overall sound of the album owes much to the influence of Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, and Jeff Buckley; indeed, with the odd time signatures, the quirky guitar licks and the soaring yet strange melodies, the songs speak firmly to the constant evolution of the art-rock music genre.
